The Columbia River Symphony presents a free exciting maritime themed concert, titled “Regatta POPS!” at the Liberty Theatre at 7:00pm on Saturday, August 12th. The music portrays the spirit of the Regatta Festivities, and closes the celebratory weekend in grand style! Popular tunes, sea shanties, movie themes, and a few surprises are in store. This very family friendly concert for all ages features a wide variety of selections to peak the interest of everyone!
Enjoy a Gershwin favorite with “Rhapsody in Blue,” with local rising talent in Brayden Payne performing the opening jazz solo to lead the clarinets and the Columbia River Symphony down a road to rhythmic invention and melodic inspiration. This is one not to miss! Listen to the swashbuckling fun of the music that was inspired by the masked vigilante, Zorro! Beautiful, intense, and glorious. Sea shanties galore with “The Wellerman Come” leading the pack for CRS, and a special small ensemble performance surprise. Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect Symphony” will sooth the audience as they hear the backdrop of CRS accompanying a special guest, and surprise vocalist! A Trumpet-Trio performing “The Saints Go Marching In” you say?…it’s true…hear the raucous and downright toe tapping fun of “A Saint-Sational Trio!” This will be a concert to celebrate the closing festivities of a summer of Regatta themed traditions, good friends, neighbors, and harmony amongst all.
