Deadline for submissions to the Cannon Beach Library’s Writers Read Celebration is January 31st.
A rising tide lifts all boats, and for the Writers Read Celebration, writers will find themselves floating ideas focusing on this year’s theme: “Rising Tide.”
In its seventh year, Writers Read offers writers of all ages from everywhere the opportunity to write on a specific theme. All unpublished written formats will be considered (essay, story, science fiction, poetry, haiku, script, etc.). The deadline for submissions is January 31st.
The theme “Rising Tide,” could flow in myriad directions: anticipation of change in a person’s life, relationship or community. It could signal an approaching flood or tsunami. Maybe it brings opportunity, promise, social justice. Or, perhaps the tide rises just before a fall.
Write whatever floats your boat.
A panel of volunteers will select 10 to 12 works to be read by their authors during the Writers Read Celebration on March 7th in person at the library or via Zoom.
Authors are limited to three entries with a 600-word maximum per entry.
Submissions should be in Word format. Include a separate cover letter with the writer’s name, email and phone number. Please do not include the author’s name or contact information on the entry document so authors remain anonymous to the reading panel.
Entrants should email submissions to info@cannonbeachlibrary.org.
The NW Authors Series Committee sponsors monthly author presentations and other events at the Cannon Beach Library. A recording of last year’s Writers Read Celebration is available on the library’s website, cannonbeachlibrary.org/events-and-programs/recorded-presentations. It also appears on the library’s YouTube page.
