High winds knock out power on Oregon’s North Coast, Southwest Washington

Crews are working to restore power across Oregon’s North Coast and Southwest Washington following a windstorm late Tuesday night and early Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for the coast on Tuesday. That warning expired earlier Tuesday morning.

In Clatsop County, Ore., power has been restored in parts of Astoria as of Wednesday morning and crews are continuing to assess other areas in the county — in Warrenton, Seaside and Cannon Beach.

In Seaside, city officials are asking people not to call 911 or the police non-emergency line for power outage updates, restoration timelines or other utility-related issues.

“Keeping these lines clear allows first responders to better assist with true emergencies,” the city said in a media release Wednesday morning.

As of this morning, Pacific Power estimates that power will be restored to the Seaside area before 3:30 p.m.

School districts across Clatsop County are closed for the day as well as Clatsop Community College.

In Tillamook County, customers from Garibaldi to just past Manzanita have been told to expect a prolonged outage. Tillamook County PUD does not have an estimate on when power will be restored in that area.

Highway 130 in Tillamook County is closed at milepost 4 due to a landslide.

In Pacific County, Washington, there is an outage on the Long Beach Peninsula from Cranberry Road to 227th on Pacific Avenue/Pacific Way. Power should be restored by noon. An outage in the Surfside area is still being assessed.

Pacific Transit reported trees down between Raymond and Aberdeen this morning, but that buses are running as usual.
