Good News: Oregon COVID vaccines for seniors start Monday

Starting Monday, Oregon will being vaccinating senior members of the public, as the vaccine rollout enters Phase 1B. Previously, vaccines had been initially distributed to health care and other essential workers.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 8, people age 80 and older can begin receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Seniors 65 and older will be eligible for vaccine by the first week of March.

Each week in February, and early March, a new subset of seniors becomes eligible for their first shot. Oldest seniors first.

  • February 8, 2021- 80 and older

  • February 15, 2021 – 75 and older

  • February 22, 2021 – 70 and older

  • March 1, 2021 – 65 and older

What should you do?

Next week, the Oregon Health Authority will launch a new tool to help people determine if they are eligible for a vaccine, and register to get email alerts or text notifications about vaccine events in their area.

The tool will be open to all Oregonians and information will be available in 11 languages.
