In this hands-on workshop we will be introduced to sekkazome (also known as orizomegami), which is a traditional Japanese form of folding and dying paper to create a variety of colorful patterns. We will then use our newly designed papers to bind into a traditional stab-bound book.
Yuka Petz is an artist, craftsperson, and designer. Her practice is centered around paper, language and text, and encompasses printmaking, drawing, books, and one-of-a-kind and limited edition works. Her work has been exhibited internationally and across the U.S., and her artist’s books are in numerous special collections. She is the host of “Artist’s Books Unshelved” and teaches book arts workshops around the country.
