Sankta Lucia Festival set for Friday, November 29th.
The annual Sankta Lucia Festival of Lights, representing Astoria’s Nordic heritage, takes place at 7:00pm on Friday, November 29th at the Astoria High School Auditorium and Commons.
Lucia will lead her attendants and Star Boys in the traditional lighted procession and make her time-honored holiday-season declaration to the Astoria community. This year’s Lucia bride is Riley Phillips, runner-up to Miss Scandinavia 2024.
The celebration includes Christmas carols led by Astoria’s Nordic Youth Choir, performances by the Astoria Nordic-Viking-Scandia Dancers, lighting of the Christmas tree, festive music by the Polka Dots and dancing. Refreshments for the event will be provided by the Friends of Suomi Hall. Admission for the evening is $1 per person or $5 per family. Proceeds benefit the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival Association Scholarship Fund.
