The Finnish American Brass Band, Ameriikan Poijat, will perform a FREE outdoor concert at the Flavel House Museum on Thursday, August 1, at 1:00 pm in the garden.
The brass septet “Ameriikan Poijat” (Boys of America) has been appearing at ethnic festivals, regional tours, and music conferences, presenting authentic social dance music and concert repertoire for over three decades. The band has made concert tours through Minnesota, Michigan, and to the FinnFest festivals nationwide. Other travels have included Canada, Kentucky, California, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, and the Hjemkomst Festival in Moorhead. Ameriikan poijat recently performed at the Nisswa Stammen, a Scandinavian folk festival in Duluth, MN. Poijat has made five concert tours in Finland, has produced six CDs, and published sheet music to make their specialized music available to community bands.
Ameriikan Poijat’s West Coast tour was made possible in part by a grant from the Finlandia Foundation National, Inc.
