CLATSOP COUNTY HOSTS PUBLIC FORUMS ON DISTRICT BOUNDARY PROCESS
The public is invited to offer input on the process to redraw the boundaries of the five Clatsop County Board of Commissioners districts.
The county is required, under its charter, to review the boundaries every 10 years following the release of population data from the federal census, to ensure that each district contains close to the same number of residents.
Five virtual public forums have been scheduled to provide information on the re-districting process and take comment. The forums are set for:
- Tuesday, Oct. 12, 3 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 13, 12 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 14, 5:30 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m.
- Monday, Oct. 18, 4 p.m.

Under the charter, district boundaries must not only contain roughly equal population, but must also be “of contiguous territory and as compact as possible.” The maps must be approved at least six months prior to the next countywide election, which is set for May 17, 2022.
