Clatsop County COVID Update 2/5/21
The Clatsop County Public Health Department on Thursday reported seven new local COVID-19 cases, ranging in age from teens to 70s. All are recovering at home.
The county has recorded a total of 758 COVID-19 cases since March. Eighteen of those cases resulted in hospitalization. Five individuals have died.
As of today, Clatsop County remains in the Extreme Risk category according to the Oregon Health Authority, along with Columbia, Washington, Multnomah and Yamhill counties. Lincoln County is High Risk. Tillamook County is currently assessed as Lower Risk. Counties are reassessed every two weeks, and classifications are based on the number of cases per 100,000 residents.
Oregon has begun tracking the spread of COVID variants in the state. Variants identified so far are more contagious and in come cases may cause more severe illness. Researchers are still assessing how well vaccines work against new variants of the virus. Currently there are four cases of the UK variant statewide. The state has not identified any cases of the South African and Brazilian variants, at least as of yesterday.
