On Saturday, February 7th, 2026 the Seaside Public Library will welcome Steve Forrester for a talk on his book, “Richard Neuberger : Oregon Politics and the Making of a US Senator.” This event will take place at 2:00pm in the Community Room and there will be a time afterwards for a Q&A. Additionally, Beach Books will be available for book purchases after the event.

The book explores Neuberger’s journey from groundbreaking journalist to Oregon’s first Democratic U.S. Senator in forty years. His legacy includes conservation leadership, a prolific writing career, and a political partnership with his wife Maurine, who succeeded him in the Senate after his death in 1960.

Steve Forrester has worked in the newspaper business for more than fifty years. He was a founder of Willamette Week, served as a Washington correspondent, and spent thirty-three years as the editor and publisher of The Daily Astorian. He was co-author of “Eminent Oregonians: Three Who Matter” (2021).
