Clatsop County moves to ‘Lower Risk’ COVID-19 category

Clatsop County will move from its current “Moderate Risk” designation for COVID-19 to the “Lower Risk” category, beginning Friday, June 4, based on the local rate of new infections.

The Oregon Health Authority recorded 16 new COVID-19 cases in the two-week reporting period from May 16 through May 29.

Under the Lower Risk designation, restaurants, gyms and indoor entertainment establishments may operate at 50-percent capacity, and faith institutions may allow up to 75-percent of capacity.

Last month Gov. Kate Brown announced that restrictions imposed under the risk level metric will be lifted once 70 percent of the state’s population age 16 and over receives at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

In Clatsop County, 51 percent of people aged 18 and over are currently vaccinated.
