ASTORIA, Ore. — Tuition is going up for students at Clatsop Community College.
The college board recently voted on a $3 per credit increase that will go into effect this summer.
College President Jarrod Hogue told the board the main reason for the increase is to keep pace with rising operational costs.
He described the increase as “modest” but also acknowledged the impact it could have on students and families but that quote the reality is we are faced with substantially higher costs for software subscriptions, IT infrastructure, utilities and personnel.
Associated Student Government President Josie Kero attends board meetings to represent the student body. She told the board that she ultimately supported the increase in tuition and that a $3 increase now is better than a larger increase later.
