Willapa Nature Notes
Willapa National Wildlife Refuge consists of over 17,000 acres of tidelands, temperate rainforest, ocean beaches, and small streams. The refuge preserves habitat for spawning wild salmon, hundreds of thousands of migrating shorebirds and waterfowl, including threatened species.
The Friends of the Willapa Wildlife Refuge, a nonprofit, works to support refuge programs and enhance awareness and appreciation of the refuge. This weekly program is a window into the diverse flora and fauna of the area, and highlights the organization’s activities throughout the year.
