Monday afternoon, the Astoria Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 485 Jerome Ave in Astoria. The incident turned out to be a vehicle fire that had spread to the house.
Astoria firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the vehicle and the home. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. The fire was confined to the vehicle and basement of the home, and started in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
Damages were estimated to be $3000 for the vehicle and $15,000 to the home. The vehicle and house are both insured. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
