Trio Zingaresca invites you to an afternoon of fiery guitar music and song!
Juilliard-trained baritone Anton Belov joins the masters of Romani (Gypsy) 7-string guitar Vadim Kolpakov and Oleg Timofeyev for a new program inspired by the music of Eastern Europe, Spain, Mexico, and even Italian opera. As a crossover group, Zingaresca interweaves classical Eastern European guitar heritage with the best traditions of the Romani and Jewish diaspora, thus blending the sophistication of classical music with the fiery vitality of folk musical expression.
ZINGARESCA unites three well-established artists who have enjoyed extensive careers on their own: Anton Belov had a long career as an operatic baritone; Vadim Kolpakov is one of the world’s best-known virtuosi of the 7–string Gypsy guitar, a former lead musician at the lauded Romen Theatre, and a guest artist at Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour; while Oleg Timofeyev is a performer, musicologist, and filmmaker, and the world’s top authority on the 7–string guitar.
In the last two years alone, Zingaresca offered over 40 concerts throughout the country. Their most recent performances include an appearance at the French Embassy in Washington, DC, and concerts in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Maryland. The concert at the Larsen Center concludes their summer 2024 PNW tour that brought them to Portland, Eugene, Salem, and Seattle.
