ENCORE Learn is partnering with Clatsop County Emergency Management to bring an informative Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness class to the community. This free class will be at the Astoria Senior Center at 1111 Exchange Street in Astoria on Saturday, November 16th from 2:0 pm to 4:00pm. Event is open to the public and seating is limited.
The class will teach you what to do before, during, and after an earthquake or tsunami, provide tips for staying safe in your homes, and provide info on what supplies to keep on hand. Learn where to go if there is a tsunami, including if you are not home during the event. Gain resources for planning, and for getting by without utilities such as electricity, gas, and water. With this knowledge, you will be better prepared to ride out and survive extreme weather conditions. Inundation maps and other pamphlets will be available.
Instructor Karen elder is a retired teacher/geologist who is an avid outdoors person and has studied, practiced, and taught countless people how to prepare for and survive during a weather emergency. The Clatsop County Emergency Management Team is trained to respond to extreme weather conditions and help provide vital resources to our community during an emergency.
