The Columbia River Symphony presents an exciting maritime themed concert, titled “Regatta POPS!” at the Liberty Theater.

Saturday August 13th at 7:00pm.  General Admission is Free.

The music portrays the spirit, ambition, playfulness and dangers that come with human exploration upon our majestic oceans.  This very family friendly concert for all ages features selections focused on nautical adventures from both films and original works.

Enjoy a composition dedicated to a living piece of our nation’s history, as the USS Constitution continues to inspire us as an enduring symbol of American bravery.  Go on an adventure that includes mine caves, pirates and chickens in the soundtrack selection from PAN, a Warner Bros. motion picture soundtrack.  Celebrate the best film score of the year 2006, with James Newton Howard’s “Lady in the Water.”  Robert W. Smith’s Odyssey Symphony will grace the shores of Clatsop County with two selections: the first an intense, and at times, raucous aural experience in the “The Iliad;” the second a pensive, and tearful piece representing Odysseus and the beautiful goddess, Calypso, that includes ocean waves and a special violin solo.  Many more selections will be presented to celebrate and honor the sounds of the nautical world.  CRS is a 501c3 non-profit organization that currently features 52 musicians from the North Coast Community and beyond that strives to provide both performers and audiences inspired opportunities to play and enjoy great symphonic music. Our mission is to increase the musical talents of our performers of any age, serve as a leadership role in the community, and to promote cultural enrichment for the artistic and musical benefit of everyone involved.
