COVID-19 Confirmed in 16th Wahkiakum County Resident

Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services (WHHS) has received a positive test result notification for a 16th COVID-19 case in a Wahkiakum County resident. The individual is in self-quarantine and is symptomatic.

The individual is a staff member of the Wahkiakum School District. Because of the stringent measures in place within the school district and the fact this person was part of a tight cohort. 
Wahkiakum School District will remain open. This is the only known case affecting the school district at this time. Members of the affected cohort have been notified to isolate themselves.
The health department is working to identify anyone who may have an exposure risk because of contact with the individuals. Those people with close contact will be notified by Health and Human Services (WHHS) staff.

At this point, Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services is confirming that there is active community spread across Wahkiakum County. WHHS is urging citizens to practice safety measures such as social distancing, staying at home, wearing a mask if you have to socialize, restricting activities to household members only, and considering their thanksgiving plans carefully.
