Please join us as we visit Fort Clatsop for a Ranger Presentation,
Picnic Lunch, Tour of the Visitor Center, Encore Guided Tour of Fort Clatsop, and Musket Firing and/or Films.

DAY/DATE/TIME: Thursday, August 27th, 10:45am. Meet at the Senior Center in Astoria and ride the Senior Center Bus, Carpool, or Self Drive to Fort Clatsop. We meet the Ranger at 11:15am and activities end at 2:00pm.

LOCATION: 92343 Fort Clatsop Road, Astoria, OR 97103
TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS: Meet at the Astoria Senior Center at 10:45am.
PLEASE say which way you hope to travel when you RSVP.
MOBILITY: The parking lot is flat and paved. Members can be dropped off in front of the Visitor Center. The 100 yard path to Fort Clatsop and Presentation areas is level and covered with chipped wood. The Visitor Center has 2 motorized scooters and 2 wheelchairs that are first come, but we would let them know ahead of time if they are needed.
COST: $10 entry fee, but many members have senior lifetime passes and they may bring 3 people with them. When you RSVP please share if you have a National Park Lifetime Pass. Susan must pay the entrance fee for everyone on her credit card.
INFORMATION: This will be a wonderful experience at Fort Clatsop! We will be met by a ranger at 11:15am who will escort us to the Presentation Area and provide information along the way. We will attend the 11:30 Ranger Presentation with multiple possible topics (Birds of Discovery, How Elk helped the Corps, Flora of the Fort, Muskets and other Survival Tools, Woodworking, Mapping the Louisiana Purchase, etc.). Our group will then have a picnic lunch (bring your own lunch) and walk through the Visitor Center. We will be met by the Ranger at 1:00pm who will give us a Guided Tour of Fort Clatsop.
Finally, we will attend the Musket Firing at 1:30pm. This can only
occur if the specialist is present and there is no fire warning. If
this does happen we will then watch the “Clatsop Winter Story”. If
this cannot happen, then we will attend the film, “Confluence of Time and Courage” at 1:25pm and the film, “Clatsop Winter Story” at 2:00.
