The Chimes of Liberty Will Peal at the North Coast Symphonic Band’s Free July 3rd Concert.

The North Coast Symphonic Band (NCSB) concludes its 46th season with a free concert Friday, July 3rd, 2026 at the Liberty Theatre. Doors open at 6:00pm and the program begins at 7:00pm. The event is sponsored by a generous donation by the Astoria Clowns.

The concert will feature a parade of patriotic marches, including “The Chimes of Liberty” written by Edwin Franko Goldman in 1922 and the 1896 John Philip Sousa classic, “The Stars and Stripes Forever;” plus tributes to veterans, nostalgic callbacks, and more. The band is conducted by Terry Dahlgren of Warrenton, Oregon. NCSB Board President Brian Bergman will be the concert’s emcee. Featured guest vocalist Deac Guidi will perform the national anthem, “America the Beautiful,” “Salute to America’s Finest,” and George and Ira Gershwin’s swing standard, “But Not for Me.”

Admission is free, thanks to the sponsorship of the Astoria Clowns. The Liberty Theatre is located at the corner of 12th and Commercial streets in Astoria.

The North Coast Symphonic Band (NCSB) is a nonprofit community performing arts group composed of local musicians of all ages who enjoy networking, learning from each other, and maintaining their skill levels in a positive and supportive environment. The NCSB performs four concerts per year at the historic Liberty Theatre in Astoria. Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (PAC) in Astoria. All sections are currently full, but musicians interested in joining a waiting list should email Personnel Director Lee Stromquist at encore1@charter.net or call (503) 861-1328. Potential new members should read music, own their own instruments, and have advanced high school level performance skills or higher.
