At least one person was detained by federal immigration officers in Warrenton Wednesday morning.
No information has been released about the person or why they were detained. Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested the person at the Home Depot in Warrenton.
This comes after two other people in Clatsop County were detained on Monday at a Walmart, also in Warrenton.
In the past month, Clatsop County has seen increased immigration enforcement activity. In early November, ICE officers detained at least 6 people in Seaside. One woman was later released and allowed to return home.
Rumors of ICE sightings across the county persisted for several days afterwards.
KMUN has reached out to ICE representatives several times for more information about the people who were taken into custody and why they were detained, but has not received any response.
In Clatsop County, the ICE operations have stoked fears in immigrant communities and led to disruptions for some businesses and a drop in attendance at local schools.
Local officials have expressed concern over the tactics used by ICE officers to go about their job, saying there needs to be communication with local law enforcement and federal officers need to be clearly identified.
During the immigration enforcement operation on Nov. 8, ICE officers used unmarked cars and did not appear to have any identifying clothes or badges. On Monday, ICE officers were again using unmarked cars, but did appear to have identification on them.
