This November Ponca poet Cliff Taylor will be curating an art show at the Anita Building in Astoria, Oregon, titled INDIGENOUS VISIONS.
INDIGENOUS VISIONS aims to celebrate and showcase Native artists and poets of the region by sharing the works of their creativity, imagination, and soul.
INDIGENOUS VISIONS will be comprised of a gallery show and poetry chapbook. The exhibition features a wide variety of mediums—paintings, photography, beadwork, video, and sculpture/installation.
The chapbook compiles work by 18 native writers, aiming to be a unique, Astoria-birthed contribution to the ever-growing, vibrant body of contemporary Native literature.
“The time of Indigenous invisibility, misrepresentation, and silence is over,” Cliff Taylor says. “Now is our time to be seen, to be heard, to share our stories, our visions, and our worlds, in ways that heal and make our people proud.”
