Wind storm knocks down power for some on North Coast

A coastal storm knocked out power for over 1,000 residents on Oregon’s North Coast as winds hit Thursday night and continued through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for northwest Oregon and southwest Washington state Friday morning that, for now, is in effect through 11 a.m. Friday.

South winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour are expected.

Pacific Power estimates that around 1,200 customers in the Warrenton area will be without power until Friday afternoon. The cause of the outage is downed trees, according to the power company.

Around 34 customers lost power in the Svenson area. The cause of the outage is still under investigation, but Pacific Power estimates power will return early this afternoon.
