SUMMARY:Raku Creatures Clay Play (sculpting) + Raku Fire 6/21
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, students will build whimsical ceramic creatu
 res designed specifically to respond beautifully to raku glazes and firing
  techniques. Using coil and sculptural handbuilding methods\, participants
  will create expressive forms with plenty of surface area to showcase the 
 dramatic crackle\, metallic flashes\, and smoky effects characteristic of 
 raku.\nThe focus will be on strong construction\, playful character\, and 
 intentional surfaces that enhance the unpredictability and energy of the r
 aku process.\nThe raku firing will take place on 6/7\, and participants ar
 e highly encouraged to attend in order to glaze their creatures and experi
 ence the firing process firsthand.\nStudents will leave class with their p
 ieces ready for drying and preparation for the upcoming raku firing.
