DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, October 5th at 2:00pm for the next installme
 nt of the NW Authors Series. Author Josephine Woolington will discuss her 
 book “Where We Call Home: Lands\, Seas\, and Skies of the Pacific Northw
 est\,” which won the 2024 Oregon Book Award for General Nonfiction. She 
 will also play some original tunes. Watch her presentation in-person at th
 e library or online.\nShe says\, “my writing is rooted in close observat
 ion of the world around me. I try to deepen my understanding of home and t
 he Pacific Northwest region\, more broadly. I strive for narratives that s
 how how communities—both human and non-human—persist after decades of 
 colonialism\, habitat degradation\, exploitation and broken treaties with 
 tribal nations.”\nJosephine Woolington is a writer\, musician and educat
 or. She is a member of the Indigenous Journalists Association and the Soci
 ety of Environmental Journalists\, and her work has been supported by the 
 Institute for Journalism &amp\; Natural Resources. She writes stories abou
 t Pacific Northwest Indigenous affairs and the environment for High Countr
 y News and other publications. Woolington has toured nationally and intern
 ationally and also writes\, records and performs her own music. Her artist
 ic\, mindful perspective and curiosity about all living things guide her c
 reative endeavors. When not writing or playing music\, you can find her lo
 oking at birds\, trees\, rocks and clouds and wondering. She lives in Port
 land with her love and their fluffy feline companion.
