SUMMARY:North Oregon Coast Symphony Presents Concert Series "Grand Openings
 "
DESCRIPTION:The North Oregon Coast Symphony will begin its 2024-2025 season
  with two concerts in November. Titled “Grand Openings\,” this series 
 offers several classical pieces that were originally intended as preludes 
 to larger works such as operas\, including Dvorak’s Hussite Overture\, R
 ossini’s La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) Overture\, and Poet and Pe
 asant Overture by Franz von Suppé. In another grand opening\, Dylan Morro
 w\, a senior at Astoria High School this year\, will be the soloist for th
 e first movement of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto\, Op. 85.\nThe first c
 oncert will take place on Saturday\, November 9\, at St.\nCatherine Episco
 pal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101\, Nehalem\, OR)\nbeginning at 3:00pm.\nThe se
 cond concert will be on Sunday\, November 10\, at the Charlene Larsen Cent
 er for the Performing Arts (588 16th St.\, Astoria\, OR) beginning at 3:00
 pm.\nAdmission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults\, ages 18 and under\n
 FREE (children 12 and under with adult supervision).\nTickets will be avai
 lable at the door only for the Nehalem concert.\nTickets for the Astoria c
 oncert will be sold online at\ncharlenelarsencenter.org or by phone at 503
 -338-9132. Cookies and\nrefreshments will be available at both concerts du
 ring intermission.\nThis non-profit orchestra\, under the direction of con
 ductor Cory\nPederson\, brings together musicians from the north Oregon an
 d south\nWashington coast to perform classical music for local audiences.
