SUMMARY:Musical Storytime at the Liberty Theater
DESCRIPTION:Musical Storytime\, a hands-on activity for preschoolers\, will
  be offered twice\, at 10:00am March 6th in the McTavish Room at the Liber
 ty Theatre\, and again at 10:00am March 10th at the North Tillamook Librar
 y in Manzanita.\nThe free readings\, for children ages 3 to 5\, will featu
 re a live violin accompaniment by North Oregon Coast Symphony musician\, S
 hannon Steele. This month children will hear two stories about the violin.
  Barn Dance by Bill Martin Jr. has a rhythmic cadence that builds the stor
 y from a quiet moonlit night when 'there's magic in the air' to a very spe
 cial\, foot stomping party. This book has an engaging blend of words and p
 ictures to set both the mind and eye dancing. The second book featured wil
 l be Mole Music by David McPhail with beautiful illustrations. In this sto
 ry\, Mole hears the sweet sound of a violin. “I want to make beautiful m
 usic\, too\,” Mole claims. Mole practices and practices and over time ha
 s quite an impact on people around him. Steele will demonstrate both class
 ical and fiddle style playing during this event. After the reading\, child
 ren will experience playing the violin just like Mole in the story.\nSimil
 ar events are being planned monthly in partnership between The North Orego
 n Coast Symphony\, North Tillamook Library and Astoria Library.\nFor more
