SUMMARY:Musical Storytime at the Astoria Library
DESCRIPTION:Bring your preschooler to hear a classic song come alive with t
 his month’s North Oregon Coast Symphony’s free Musical Storytime. This
  program includes a hands-on musical activity. The featured story will be 
 "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck" written by Frank Loesser and illustrated 
 by Rosemary Wells. The event will feature a live viola accompaniment by NO
 CS musician Britton Pierce. Children will hear about two ducklings who lik
 e each other - a lot! With vibrant illustrations and a catchy song this bo
 ok is sure to be a favorite for children and adults.\nThe second book will
  be "Mole Music" by David McPhail with beautiful illustrations. In this st
 ory\, Mole hears the sweet sound of a violin. “I want to make beautiful 
 music\, too\,” Mole claims. Mole practices and practices and over time h
 as quite an impact on people around him. Afterwards preschoolers will take
  part in making their own music just like Mole with provided violins.\nThi
 s event will be offered at 10:30am Thursday\, April 2\, 2026 at the Astori
 a Library Flag Room.\nThe free readings for children ages 2 to 5 are plann
 ed monthly in partnership with the Astoria Library\, North Tillamook Libra
 ry in Manzanita\, and the Seaside Library. Funding for the instruments use
 d in this month’s outreach program come from Clatsop County Cultural Coa
 lition and Oregon Cultural Trust. We thank both organizations for their ge
