Giraffes can’t dance! This delightful story by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees is the focus of the North Oregon Coast Symphony’s October Musical Storytime education outreach program. This free, hands-on activity for preschoolers will be offered multiple times in October. The story time will be held Wednesday, October 7th at 10:30 a.m. at the Seaside Library. This outreach program for children ages 2 to 5, features live accompaniment by flute and violin musicians.
Giraffes Can’t Dance is a joyful tale about finding your own rhythm, inspiration, and confidence. With vibrant illustrations and captivating rhythm, children will be swaying, stomping, and smiling from start to finish.
After the reading, each musician will explain a bit more about her respective instrument and demonstrate playing them. Then children will have the opportunity to play a violin and wind instrument.
These events are planned monthly in partnership between North Oregon Coast Symphony, North Tillamook Library, Seaside Library and Astoria Library. For more information, visit the symphony’s website at www.nocsymphony.org.
