Event Type

On Saturday, July 11th, 2026 the Seaside Public Library will welcome back author Zoë Bossiere for a writing workshop called, “Writing the Queer Memoir.” This program will take place at 2:00pm in the Community Room.

Queer lives have been historically underrepresented in the memoir genre, our stories either existing on the margins or, just as often, not at all. Speaking our voices into the archive through the telling of our stories is a powerful way to break the tradition of silence. In this 90-minute workshop, writers will learn helpful approaches to crafting true stories through reading short memoirs, engaging in interactive discussions, and generating their own writing.

Workshop material and readings will be most resonant for those who identify as queer, but folks who do not identify this way are welcome to attend and engage in good faith participation. The generative writing prompts participants will be working with during the session can be applied to a variety of life experiences.

Space is limited and sign-ups are required so please contact the library if you want to attend, by phone (503-738-6742) or in person at the Circulation Desk.
