 anizations to learn about and celebrate our birds!\nInsects and their impo
 rtance to migratory birds is the focus of this year’s World Migratory Bi
 rd Day\, a global campaign that aims to raise awareness of migratory birds
  and the need to conserve and support them.\nWhen? Sunday\, May 26th\, 202
 4 from 10AM- 2PM\nWhere? Lower Nehalem Community Trust’s Alder Creek Far
 m\,\n35955 Underhill Lane\, Nehalem\, OR 97131\nWho? Everyone! This is a f
 amily-friendly event for seasoned and novice birders alike. No experience 
 necessary and birding opportunities for all. We will have some pairs of bi
 noculars to loan and spotting scopes set up to observe birds in different 
 habitats throughout the farm\, from both easily accessible locations and f
 urther afield.\nCelebrate: Come celebrate Spring migration on the North Co
 ast and the important efforts that local organizations are making to prote
 ct and help birds and the habitats they depend on.\nACTIVITIES\n10 AM – 
 Get to know your N. Coast Birds!\nGuided Bird Walk\n11:30 AM – Get to kn
 ow your N. Coast Birds!\nGuided Bird Walk\n(Bird walks are 1 hour in durat
 ion and occur along gravel\, wood chip and unmaintained grassy areas. Ther
 e are two route options available\, one on flat terrain and one that trave
 rses up a medium slope to the upper riparian areas above Alder Creek).\n12
 :30 PM – Brown Bag Workshop: eBird and iNaturalist\nBring your sack lunc
 h to the barn and chat with local bird nerd podcast team\, Hannah and Erik
 \, to learn about using these popular apps to identify\, learn and contrib
 ute to community science!\n1:15 PM – Birds\, Bugs and Blooms!\nGuided to
 ur of the Nehalem Ethnobotanical Teaching Trail.\nThroughout the Day:\n‘
 BIG SIT’ – Grab a seat and join our ‘Big Sit’ station where season
 ed birders will help point out species by sight and sound and will keep a 
 running tally of birds throughout the day. Participants may arrive and joi
 n for any portion of time between 10am and 2pm. Spotting scopes will be av
 ailable to help locate and observe migratory and resident species along Al
 der Creek\, overhead and in the seasonal wetland. Come say hello and learn
  about our local birds.\nGET TO KNOW YOUR LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS – Interact
 ive tabling displays with local partners working in the fields of conserva
 tion\, education and wildlife rehabilitation. Come learn more about commun
 ity conservation and the amazing projects that are happening around the N.
  Coast!\nKIDS ART AND ACTIVITIES:\nArt and educational activities for some
  family fun\, hosted by Hoffman Center for the Arts.\nFacilities and Acces
 sibility: There is a gravel road (approx. 50 yards) from the parking area 
 to the main barn/greenhouse. The path is flat and limited accessible parki
 ng is available within 40 feet of the central location of this event. The 
 central area is paved and has a slight raised step at the entrance of the 
 barn. There is an accessible picnic table available on the paved central s
 pace overlooking the wildlife sanctuary and seasonal wetland. Accessible p
 ortable restroom facility is available on site. Please reach out with any 
 questions and we’d be happy to accommodate everyone’s participation to
  the best of our ability.\nPublic Health and Safety: This is a mostly outd
 oor event with some activities happening in a covered\, open-air barn.\nEa
 rly birders are welcome to head to Alder Creek Farm for self-guided birdin
