KALA is located at 1017 Marine Dr. in Astoria.
Growing up in Cannon Beach, Oregon, active from youth as musicians, then music majors at Julliard, and then on to the profession as teachers, before a recent return to Astoria, Lake and Evan Jiroudek have worked on their own music as well as playing as sidemen to many up and coming songwriters, and playing as Innocent Alex in various venues while residing in Los Angeles. Evan Jiroudek has produced and engineered albums for his peers, himself and even his little brother.
No More Heroes is a first-ever album for the brothers shared in equal parts, each singing lead on their own songs, and playing guitar, bass, drums, synth, piano and percussion. Lincoln Mendall plays piano, organ and synth, and Jordan Bush on banjo and harmonica. It’s recorded and mixed by Evan Jiroudek.
While Evan and Lake were known for jazz in their youth in Cannon Beach, Innocent Alex writes in the rock genre. No More Heroes is a dynamic and creative collection of vocally driven arrangements. “The Jiroudek Brothers have a distinctive and unique sound. While you can conjure reminiscence for example from, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, for its skillful arranging and melodious tunes, No More Heroes stands on its own —great voices, great songwriting, very excited for audience members to hear the sounds of Innocent Alex live, says KALA owner Dinah Urell.
Preview the album streaming on Spotify, Apple, and Bandcamp. Album CDs will be available for sale at the concert. Original cover art is by Daneka Golembek.
