Sunday Afternoon Live welcomes the Hank Williams Centennial Revue on Sunday, September 17, at 2 PM for an inspiring performance that will transport us to a by-gone era of lovesick blues, lost highways, and honky-tonks. Before niche radio existed, the airwaves were filled with Hank Williams. Long after his untimely
passing, everyone listened to and sang along with “Hey Good Lookin’ “, “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, “Lovesick Blues” and so many more. This year is the centennial celebration of Hank Williams’
birth, and on his very birthday, SAL will be hosting the Hank Williams Centennial Revue. The musicians of this ensemble recreate the iconic Hank Williams tunes lovingly and faithfully. Each of these players has been profoundly influenced by the work of Hank Williams, as they have so eloquently shared: “Hank was a major reason I started playing country music.” (Country Dave Harmonson, steel guitar and vocals). “Hank is for sure my number one musical inspiration…His songs melt my heart.” (Cami Voss, piano, vocals).
“Hank’s amazing vocals are an inspiration.” (Jed Jedrzejewski, guitar, mandolin, accordion). “Hank is THE SOURCE for country music.” (Kelly Van Camp, guitar, drums, harmonica).
“Once I discovered Hank and his music, all I wanted was more.” (Ron Bailey, acoustic guitar). “Hank [showed that] music doesn’t need to be complex to be intricate.” (Ethan Sobotta, bass).
“Most of my favorite country music is…Hank Williams…and learning all those songs is still my foundation.” (John Olufs, guitar).
“Hank Williams influenced everyone who plays country or rock music.” (Kat Bula, vocals, fiddle, guitar). These players—top-notch and sought-after as individuals—are believers. Their devotion to the
music of Hank Williams comes through in every song, and will have you believing too. Come and be a part of this amazing centennial celebration of an unforgettable country icon!
