DESCRIPTION:Don't miss your chance to take a class from our first national 
 visiting artist\, Carli Giese!\nIn this hands-on workshop you will blend c
 reativity with functionality as you design and craft a slab-built cup\, mu
 g\, or planter with its own unique facial expression. Using slab-building 
 techniques you will learn how to balance functionality with artistic expre
 ssion giving each piece their own character and charm. Whether you are a b
 eginner or more experienced this workshop offers a supportive environment 
 to experiment and create.\nCarli Giese is a ceramic artist based in Phoeni
 x\, AZ. She earned her BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University in 20
 16 and completed a three-month residency at The Pottery Workshop in Jingde
 zhen\, China\, with West Virginia University in 2015. After graduating\, C
 arli worked as a studio assistant to Patricia Sannit and served as a studi
 o technician at Phoenix College. She has also held multiple teaching posit
 ions. Carli later moved to Flagstaff\, where she worked in the ceramics st
 udio at Coconino Community College and completed a post-baccalaureate prog
 ram at Northern Arizona University in 2020. In 2019\, Carli received the V
 iola Award for Emerging Artist in Flagstaff. She now continues to create f
 rom her home studio in Phoenix.\n
