DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging workshop with our first national visiti
 ng artist\, Carli Giese!\nIn this class we will explore the expressive pot
 ential of clay by focusing on the human figure and face. Participants will
  coil-build a small bust conveying an emotion of your choice\, using clay 
 as a means of self-expression and storytelling. Through hands-on guidance 
 you will learn techniques for capturing likeness and feeling in your sculp
 tures. This workshop is designed for all skill levels and will give you a 
 chance to experiment\, make mistakes\, and explore your creative instincts
  in a supportive environment. Together we will delve into the nuances of f
 acial expression and form\, helping you develop your skills and deepen you
 r connection with the material.\nCarli Giese is a ceramic artist based in 
 Phoenix\, AZ. She earned her BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University
  in 2016 and completed a three-month residency at The Pottery Workshop in 
 Jingdezhen\, China\, with West Virginia University in 2015. After graduati
 ng\, Carli worked as a studio assistant to Patricia Sannit and served as a
  studio technician at Phoenix College. She has also held multiple teaching
  positions. Carli later moved to Flagstaff\, where she worked in the ceram
 ics studio at Coconino Community College and completed a post-baccalaureat
 e program at Northern Arizona University in 2020. In 2019\, Carli received
  the Viola Award for Emerging Artist in Flagstaff. She now continues to cr
 eate from her home studio in Phoenix.\n
