This may be the first time that Sunday Afternoon Live has brought to the stage an ensemble whose every song is known —and adored— by someone in the audience. Empire Trio
performs the most beloved songs from stage and screen, and it is guaranteed that we will be singing along, humming along, doing the harmony parts, turning to our loved ones next to us
and saying, “That’s our song!” In their “Hooray For Hollywood” and “Bravissimo Broadway” sets, Empire Trio will powerfully
and passionately remind us why we loved those shows and that music. These are the songs that will bring a glow of warmth as we hear their opening notes. These unique and masterful
arrangements bring the pathos of “I Dreamed A Dream” and the promise of “Do You Hear The People Sing” from Les Miserables; the heartbreaking strains of “Edelweiss” from The Sound Of
Music; the pure yearning of “Unchained Melody” from Ghost: The Musical. These selections belong to all of us, because they’ve been such a part of our lives. Empire Trio was formed in 2012 as the group O Sole Trio by founders Erin Shields, soprano,
and David Shenton, pianist and violinist. They’ve been joined by baritone and opera star Adam Cannedy. In 2019 the group became known as Empire Trio, and they have brought
their magic to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and more than 300 venues in the US, UK, and Canada. All three of these amazing performers have been celebrated on
and off Broadway, and have shared the stage with such luminaries as Vanessa Williams, Tony Bennett, Renee Fleming, and New York Philharmonic Orchestra. The members of Empire Trio
are also educators: They have generously given of their time and talent to aspiring young musicians through workshops, master classes, and appearances at schools. Which one of their lovely renditions will you be singing when you emerge from the theatre?
