 Julien is one of fifteen trained experts that navigate ships of all sizes 
 across the dangerous transition from ocean to river and enjoys sharing wha
 t he has learned. Captain Julien has always been fascinated with working o
 n the water and has sailed aboard ocean-going cargo ships for nearly\nthre
 e decades. Beginning in an entry-level position (Ordinary Seaman)\, Christ
 ian would eventually attend the California Maritime Academy and earn his l
 icense as a Third Officer in the United States Merchant Marine. Continuing
  education and years at sea would see him progress to an unlimited Master
 ’s Licenses\nand his first command of a cargo ship at the age of 32. Aft
 er years of serving as Captain of Bulk Carriers and Car Carriers\, Captain
  Julien was licensed by the State of Oregon to become a Columbia River Bar
  Pilot.
