SUMMARY:Minimalist Sculptural Slab Vases
DESCRIPTION:w/visiting artists Bat Loomis and Andra Bose!\nMake a vase ador
 ned with colorful embellishments of your choice\, from chains to daisies t
 o daisy chains! Using a variety of handbuilding methods\, students will le
 arn how to work with colored clay to explore colors and shapes while creat
 ing a vase in this workshop. The body of the vase will be formed using a c
 ombination of pinch\, slab\, and coil techniques. Students will create and
  attach colorful clay elements using various techniques like slip and scor
 ing. All clay\, glaze\, tools\, and firings are provided\, and each partic
 ipant will create one vase. Vases will be fired and ready for pickup or sh
 ipping within 3-6 weeks after the class.\nAndra Bose is a ceramicist worki
 ng from her home studio in Seattle\, Washington. She has a bachelor’s de
 gree in Textiles and Apparel Design and minored in Studio Art with a focus
  in Ceramics. After spending a decade as a professional in the Textiles fi
 eld\, she found her way back to pottery and has spent the last 4 years fin
 ding her voice as an artist. Her current body of work is largely influence
 d by how a designer pulls colors and swatches together for a new project a
 nd studies how those colors work alongside one another. Andra sells her wo
 rk online and at local maker markets\, and this year has begun teaching in
 -person workshops.\nBat is a ceramicist in Tukwila\, WA who works out of a
  private studio and loves sharing the joy of clay. While most of their wor
 k boasts bright colors\, quirky sayings\, and the occasional hand-painted 
 drawing\, making glazes from scratch has taken the reigns lately.
