SUMMARY:2-Day Mold-Making
DESCRIPTION:In this two day class we will create a simple two part slip cas
 ting plaster mold. We will focus on troubleshooting prototypes\, best mold
 ing practices and get into a little bit of the science\, mechanics and his
 tory of mold making. A two part slip casting mold will enable you to repea
 tedly cast found or made objects into clay.\nPlease bring in an object you
  would like to cast - this can be nearly any hard\, non-permeable material
  but we recommend bringing in a hard/leather hard clay object with no unde
 rcuts. An undercut is an aspect of the shape that prevents the two halves 
 of the mold from smoothly pulling apart. Please reach out to Hans if you h
 ave any questions about the object you'd like to cast.\nAlthough the mold 
 you make will need to dry out for at least a week after it's made\, we wil
 l also perform a short hands-on demo of slip casting including pouring\, e
 mptying\, de-molding and cleaning. This class will qualify you to use the 
 IAW slip casting table.
